Crops and Livestock
Our goal at the Comanche County division of K-State Research and Extension is to help our producers achieve efficient, sustainable, and profitable production of livestock and crops.
In the last period of measurement that we have available the number of farms has decreased almost 7% and the size of farms has increased 6%. This is a statewide and national trend. There are 270 farms in Comanche County with an average size of 1974 acres. Our two largest commodities produced are beef cattle and wheat. Quite a few acres are devoted to alfalfa and forage sorghum production.
